Positano is a well-known rustic little coastal town on the Amalfi coast in Italy which is well worth a visit if you are on a yacht charter in this corner of the Mediterranean. This is an area that sees a good range of visiting superyachts and crewed luxury yachts in the summer months, and for good reason. Positano has also long been a favourite of painters and artists and it has a long and illustrious history - even for Italy. Now, Positano is sometimes considered to be the most photogenic town on the Amalfi Coast. It is also one of the most expensive with some great little shops offering their wares. In addition, this enchanting seaside town looks fantastic from a yacht on the ocean and it has some great picturesque beaches as well as the caves of La Porta and some wonderful cosy romantic candlelit restaurants.
The Positano yacht Charter Area of Amalfi:
Positano is right within the Amalfi Coast cruising area. This part of Italy is a breath-taking example of nature. there are with soaring mountains and little villages nestled between. where tranquil valleys touch the shores of the warm azure Mediterranean sea. Cruising from Positano along the Amalfi Coast to Capri is a very popular route.
Some of the other yacht charter destinations in the vacinity includes Capri, Ischia, Amalfi, Sorrento, Naples, Procida, Ponza, Maiori, Minori, Praiano, Ravello, Atrani, Nerano, Cetara, Salerno. This is a busy yachting area and most types of luxury charter yachts and superyachts are available here or nearby for a yacht rental vacation. Naples and Pompeii are within easy reach and if you have never visited either, think about incorporating an excursion into your visit to Positano. Amalfi itself is close by and the pleasure of cruising the famous yachting playground of the Amalfi coast in your own yacht should not be underestimated. There is no marina in Positano but in settled weather your charter yacht will be able to drop anchor or pay to pick up a buoy in Positano's open anchorage. The overnight anchorage is often available and posible, weather depending, in Chiaia Beach for your charter boat.
The Positano nightlife is much like most of this part of the Italian coastline in Amalfi. It is sophisticated, if not somewhat relaxed and genteel. Fof some this is ideal and for others they would rather a more lively scene. You can expect to see 'Music on the Rocks' which is the local uber-chic nightclub which has been carved into the tower at the end of Spiaggia Grande.
Going ashore to see Positano
Positano is linked with a network of steep streets and steeps which rise up and down the town. The hillside is clustered with village houses which have been painted with colourful pinks and peaches. these houses and their pretty colour are something that characterises this part of Italy and makes Positano to be clearly recognisable.
This rustic and pretty Italian seaside town is more or less divided in two by a large cliff on which stands the Torre Trasita. One the western side of the the Torre Trasita is the Spiaggia del Fornillo beach. This is also the less expensive side of the town. On the eastern side of the cliff is where you will find the Spaggia Grande and the town centre behind. There is not an endless amount of things to see and do in Positano, it is more a place to relax and soak up the ambience. A couple of things that are worthy of viewing, however, include the architecture of the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta with its 13th century Byzantine Black Madonna and the little cherubs that sit behind the arches.
