St Vincent is a great place to begin or end your luxury yacht charter in the Grenadines. St Vincent is the largest island in the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines island chain and is also the northern most island.
Saint Vincent is a volcanic island featuring a 3,000 foot volcano named Soufriere, which last erupted in 1979. It is a rugged and island known locally as "the mainland". Mountainous, covered in tropical greenery, there are no white sand beaches on this island, a stark contrast to the amazing pure white beaches found further South in the St Vincent and Grenadines island chain. The lack of beaches however, does make this island unique as it has remained largely unspoiled by the more commercial style of tourism. The interior of the island is largely undeveloped, with no roads crossing the island.
There are still activities to enjoy on a St Vincent luxury yacht charter. For the active charter guest, you can enjoy climbing the volcano were you are able to look straight down the 900ft crater or take a trip to the Falls of Baleine on the northern end of the island. For the less adventurous, the Botanical Gardens near Kingstown are the oldest in the Western Hemisphere and are quite beautiful. You will find many tropical plants and a direct descendant of the breadfruit tree bought to the Caribbean by Captain Bligh.
Alternatively, let your charter yacht take you along the leeward coast to explore some deserted anchorages with black sand beaches and tender ashore for a nice walk into the rainforest. For a totally different experience check out the eco resort Petit Byahaut.
