BLACK PEARL

The luxury sailing yacht BLACK PEARL (formerly PROJECT SOLAR) is a 105.00-metre (344′ 6″) superyacht built by Oceanco in 2018, ranking amongst the world’s largest sailing vessels. Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, her striking design represents a collaboration between Oceanco, Nuvolari-Lenard, and naval architects Dykstra Naval Architects.

The yacht’s distinctive exterior styling and interiors are the work of Nuvolari-Lenard, with interior design specifically overseen by Valentina Zannier, Partner and Head of Interior Design at the firm. The project benefited from additional expertise provided by French architect Gérard Villate, Ken Freivokh, and BMT Nigel Gee, all contributing to the vessel’s final aesthetic and performance characteristics.

BLACK PEARL features three distinctive masts that represent an evolution of the DynaRig system first developed for S/Y MALTESE FALCON. The design incorporates three portholes along the main deck bulwarks and a flowing superstructure that creates an elegant arc from the sundeck hardtop to the main deck aft.

Built to Lloyd’s Registry standards, BLACK PEARL boasts a total interior volume of 2,700 GT. The three rotating carbon fibre masts enable the yacht to harness wind power with exceptional efficiency whilst maintaining the aesthetic appeal of a traditional sailing vessel.

The expansive foredeck provides ample space for entertainment, sunbathing, and outdoor activities, while the stern cockpit offers comfortable seating areas for guests to enjoy panoramic ocean views. The upper deck features an elevated Jacuzzi and exterior staircases leading to the sundeck, where guests can relax on sunpads while taking in commanding 360-degree views.

When operating under power, BLACK PEARL is equipped with twin MTU 12V2000M72 diesel engines, enabling the yacht to achieve a maximum speed of 23,3 knots.
