Philippe Briand Yacht Design   Philippe Briand is an acclaimed luxury yacht designer of both sailing yachts and motor yachts, with a number of them available for yacht charter. His design career started when he was 16 and already an accomplished dinghy sailor. At the age of 18 he joined the Swedish designer Pelle Petterson as an apprentice who gave him invaluable experience in the design of America's Cup vessels and series-production sailing yachts; introducing him to the world of advanced hydrodynamics, tank testing of hulls, computer-aided design and production engineering.    In 1978 he established his own company, with yachts of his own design winning the 1983 Half-Ton Cup and the 1984 One-Ton Cup. In 1991 he designed two of the three yachts in the winning French Admiral's Cup team; following which he took on the job of designing for the French and Swiss America's Cup teams.    Sailign yacht VERTIGO - Image credit to Philippe Briand   His 1995 design of the 44,7m MARI CHA III and later the design of MARI CHA IV launched Philippe Briand into his current success in the world of sailing super yachts. Motor yacht design was natural progression, and a passion, in which he applies his extensive knowledge of advanced hydrodynamics to design both efficient as well as striking motor yachts.    All Philippe Briand-designed yachts, both charter yachts or a private vessels, combine elegance with efficiency, and the fact that they were completely designed by Philippe Briand and his team, with exception of the interior decoration.
