ANGRA DOS REIS (BRAZIL)

Angra dos Reis is located around 93 miles south west of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It’s famous for its coastline especially the Bay of Ilha Grande. This area is one of the best cruising grounds in South America with more than 365 islands, one for each day of the year. There are plenty of sheltered anchorages and spectacular white sandy beaches. Angra dos Reis is a lively fishing harbour which sports two marinas as well as a number of private docks. The main village is called Vila do Abraao which is located on the Ilha Grande. The city is also known for the Aquidaba Shipwreck Monument which was built in honour of the Admiralty. It’s a granite obelisk marking one of the largest shipwrecks of the Brazilian Navy in 1906 and houses the remains of the crew.
