THE CHANNEL ISLANDS Proudly British, yet only eight miles from France at their closest point, the Channel Islands make for an exciting yacht charter discovery.  Located just off the coast of France, mainly in the Bay of Malo, the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Jersey are popular destinations throughout the summer months. The Channel Islands are jam-packed with different things to do and see. St Peter Port is a great place to drop anchor including the Victoria Marina. Alderney’s Braye Harbour is a favourite port of call for superyacht charter vessels while Jersey’s capital, St Helier, has its own town centre marina.  There’s reputedly the smallest chapel in the world, The Little Chapel, Guernsey, to one of the most famous wildlife conservation parks, Durrell Wildlife in Jersey. Formula 1 World Champion and Cart Indy Car World Series winner, Nigel Mansell also has a fantastic collection of cars on the laid-back island of Jersey. During your time visiting the Channel Islands as part of your yacht charter holiday, head for Sark. Discover where monks once farmed and how the silver mines once brought wealth to the region. The fascinating Channel Islands also provide visitors with the opportunity to explore a whole host of historical attractions. Napoleonic look outs, ancient passages, castles and relics of WW II have all left their mark across these islands. On Jersey, to get an idea what WWII was really like, head down the war tunnels. Likewise, why not pay a visit to the German Military Underground Hospital on Guernsey? You can even walk through reconstructed street war scenes at The German Occupation Museum.  Speaking of museums, there’s also the Folk and Costume Museum as well as the Fort Grey and Shipwreck Museum on the island. Back on Jersey the children will love a day out at Aquasplash with its flume rides, tyre rides, inflatables and the lazy river ride. Accessible only by boat from St Peter Port Harbour, Sark is car-free. The island can be explored on foot, by bike or how about a horse-drawn carriage?  During the hot summer months, the Channel Island beaches draw thousands of visitors from the UK and beyond. Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark share between them nearly 120 miles of stunning and varied coastline. Resort towns like St Brelade’s on Jersey retains a classic English appearance and is the island’s most popular beach. St Aubin’s Bay is great for jet skiing while the Alderney beaches of Arch Bay, Braye Bay and Clonque are just the places to relax.
