Norwegian shipbuilder Vard Holdings is building the largest superyacht in the world, the 182.9m (600′) research expedition vessel REV OCEAN. This project is due for completion in 2021 and will represent the largest expedition yacht in terms of length and volume.

The leading superyacht designer Espen Oeino and Vard teamed up to develop the innovative design of this magnificent vessel. Her owner, the Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke has been working in collaboration with WWF of Norway with an idea of building this vessel for research purposes. It is believed that REV OCEAN will become a “platform for gathering knowledge”, which will provide a workspace for researchers, environmentalists, and institutions.

This luxurious explorer vessel will be offered for world marine expeditions, as she will have outstanding capabilities. With a maximum range of 21,120 nm, REV OCEAN will be a very fuel-efficient superyacht with an energy recovery rudder system. Also, she will be built as an environmentally-friendly vessel, fitted with a direct drive diesel-electric propulsion system and an exhaust cleaning system. The yacht will be able to provide space for more than 60 scientists and 40 crew and is expected to have up to 114 days of full autonomy. Laboratories, auditoriums and a moon pool for researching marine life will be provided on board.

REV OCEAN will also be available for private use of her owner and luxury yacht charters. Up to 36 guests will be accommodated in 18 lavish staterooms. A professional crew of 54 will take care of daily errands while on a private charter vacation.

She will be equipped with luxurious leisure and entertainment amenities, expected from a yacht of her scale and class.

At 182 metres, with a beam of 22 metres and a gross tonnage of 16,000 GT, the yacht will receive the title of the largest yacht in the world upon delivery.

During private yachts charter expeditions, the yacht can accommodate up to 36 guests, 30 crew members, and 24 scientists. Thanks to her design and layout she can carry enough provisions for 90 persons covering about 114 days, with extra storage in on-deck reefer containers for linger voyages.
