Flightless

Motor yacht Flightless is a steel-hull ex-navy patrol vessel, refitted for comfort and functionality. Owned and operated by experienced skippers and commercial divers, Sean Ellis and Maria Kuster, Flightless has supported conservation, biosecurity, and cultural initiatives across Aotearoa for over a decade.

At 26.82 meters long with a 6.1-meter beam, Flightless offers spacious decks for equipment transport, dive operations, and gear staging. Below deck, it accommodates up to 22 people with comfortable live-aboard facilities. The vessel features a 6-ton bollard pull, twin Cummins engines, and robust machinery, ensuring endurance and reliability for long expeditions.

Flightless has a range of 2,500 nautical miles at 9 knots and is equipped with a 3.2-ton crane, dive platforms, and full communication systems. Safety is prioritised with multiple EPIRBs, medical kits, and firefighting equipment. Whether for biosecurity work, scientific research, or cultural missions, Flightless provides a reliable, adaptable platform for remote operations.

Yacht Flightless is able to accommodate up to 20 guests in 6 cabins. There are 2 double beds and the remaining beds are bunk beds in the following configuration. 1 double with en-suite, 1 double and 1 single, 3 berth with en-suite, 6 berth with en-suite, 2 berth and 6 berth.

The communal areas onboard include the salon on the main deck which features 2 leather couches, a table and a bar area as well as a 32” LCD TV and X Box. The exterior aft deck is enclosed and sheltered with an alloy awning and clear curtain sides. It is possible to enjoy el fresco meals here on the large hardwood dining table with 6 cushioned chairs and two 6 seat picnic tables. On the upper sun deck, there is a 6 seater picnic table and 2 cushioned sun loungers.
