Philippe Briand has released his latest luxury yacht concept: The 60m/200ft SY200 sailing yacht which is capable of self-sustainability when it comes to generating energy, producing zero emissions when cruising from one port to the next.

The power is harnessed by the onboard sails and by underwater turbines, with the power from the former capable of generating an equivalent of 2,000 kW in optimum conditions. Depending on her speed, SY200 can generate 500 kW at 15 knots and 200 kW at 12 knots to match hotel loads. Any additional energy accumulated is stored in the 20-tonne onboard battery bank for use without generating noise while at anchor.

The main living space is placed all on one level and 80% of the yacht’s length is protected by a glass coach roof and hardtop. The skylight provides excellent line-of-sight forward and upward to view the sail and rig above.
