Video: Steve Jobs superyacht Venus heads to Feadship facilities for refit

Luxury yacht VENUS built for Steve Jobs has returned home to the Feadship yard for her five-year Lloyd’s certification. The 78m/256ft motor yacht is one of many expected at the yard's facilities this autumn/winter, and Feadship has hired facilities in Harlingen to ensure an efficient service throughout this refitting period.

Superyacht VENUS has returned home to the Feadship facilities to begin her second refit since her launch in 2012, which will include her five-year Lloyd’s certification as well as system upgrades.

The famed 78m/256ft mega yacht constructed for Steve Jobs has remained a secretive build: De Voogt Naval Architects designed her exterior profile with few details known about her interiors except that Philippe Starck was commissioned to complete the project.

2 x MTU 16V 4000 M73 diesel engines provide a cruising speed of 16 knots and a top speed of 22 knots and her on board accommodation is designed for up to 12 guests.

After her launch in 2012, 78m/256ft mega yacht VENUS underwent a refit in 2015 at the Monaco Marine La Ciotat. Her second refit will take place at the recently rented Harlingen facility and will be the first of many refits at the yard for a busy autumn/winter season. Luxury yacht ECSTASEA is also expected at the Makkum yard later in the year.

Feadship has seen an increased demand for quality refits, particularly from owners of Feadship superyachts who want to maintain or upgrade and retain the same seamless quality as when the yachts were first launched. To meet this demand, Feadship has hired the facilities of a fellow shipyard to accommodate 81m/266ft M/Y AIR, and ‘Feadship Refit & Services’ will launch in the final quarter of 2017.
