Work began on the new and improved state of the art Quarterdeck Marina at Bitter End Yacht Club shortly after Easter. The new facility is scheduled to be completed for a July 4th Grand Re-Opening, and replaces what was already one of the most popular boutique-style destination marinas in the Caribbean.
Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, global marina group, and BR Marinas, Brazil’s leading marina group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the growth of luxury marinas in Brazil. The key purpose of the partnership is the development of C&N Marinas in Brazil, and in technology exchange and marketing cross promotion.
Renovation work is underway at Westhaven Marina located in downtown Auckland, New Zealand. The marina is replacing 106 of its berths with modern concrete floating pontoons. Bellingham Marine New Zealand was awarded the design/build contract for the project in December 2010. According to the company, crews arrived on site on March 13th, and the project is expected to be completed in July.
The International Marinas Conference and Exhibition called Marinas 2011 is being held in Melbourne 20 – 22 June. With just six weeks to go the Marinas 2011 Committee Chairman Mike Harvey is confident participation will exceed that of the last event held in 2009.
The complete list of nominees for the upcoming Asia Boating Awards 2011 has now been released, with some impressive surprises and the return of some industry stalwarts. The Asia Boating Awards, now in its seventh year, is the region’s most established and respected event of its kind. This year sees awards in 23 categories, recognising Asian builders and international brands, as well as Asian regattas, marinas and yacht designers working in Asia. The pioneering Asia Boating Awards was the first event to recognise the efforts and successes of Asian yacht builders.
Marina Tel Aviv, the shoreline centerpiece of Israel’s largest city and cultural capital, recently underwent a major renovation. Partnering with SF Marina, the marina replaced its old, dilapidated piers with a state-of-the-art floating concrete breakwater and docks. The project improved protection for moored boats, as well as the marina’s safety and appearance, while minimizing cost and maintenance.

Under the banner of ‘new horizons’ the Marinas 2011 International Conference and Exhibition will bring the marina world to Melbourne for three days (20 – 22 June 2011). The event is conducted every two years by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA). It is being held for the first time in Victoria, Australia.
