The new 37-metre Continental Trawler motor yacht Vagabundus is currently in build at Wim van der Valk Continental Yachts in the Netherlands. Superyacht Vagabundus will be the first vessel in the world to be equipped with the AntiRoll stabilization system, first introduced by Dynamic Marine Systems (DMS) at the beginning of 2013, and set to be launched in September 2014.

Luxury yacht Vagabundus bears a name that symbolizes the dream to freely roam the seas. This beautifully crafted 250 tonne and 37 metre Continental Trawler can attain a speed of 14.5 knots.

But no matter how hard or fast the ship sails, which seas Vagabundus superyacht takes on or in which idyllic harbour she lays anchor, one thing is certain: she will be able to rely on ultimate stability whatever the conditions, thanks to the AntiRoll stabilization system by DMS.

AntiRoll will make its premiere on the 37m Continental Trawler yacht Vagabundus. Hardly surprising, incidentally, seeing as innovation is paramount at Wim van der Valk Continental Yachts. That doesn’t mean being innovative for the sake of innovation. The ultimate goal is improving the quality technically. With an excellent ‘scientific report’, AntiRoll matches this criteria and aim perfectly by improving comfort, safety and the sailing experience and this is why it took little effort to convince the client.

Currently being produced and fabricated for super yacht Vagabundus in Zeeland, the Netherlands, the AntiRoll stabilization system has already undergone a series of comprehensive tests at MARIN, the renowned scientific marine research institute in Wageningen. The research focused particularly on determining the force the fin could generate and resist, not only whilst cruising but also at zero speed. The results were astounding. The model calculations proved extremely accurate. In comparison to conventional fins, the analysis revealed a reduction in resistance of 75%.
