Israeli Transportation Ministry has announced their plans for a third marine to be built in Tel Aviv Port. The new marina will be a Luxury Marina able to accommodate 100 pleasure boats and is scheduled to be ready in two years.
Andrew Cornish appointed MDL Marinas’ new Chief Executive, following Tony Keeler’s retirement in July. MDL Marinas are the largest marina owner and operator in Europe.
On the 7th July The Yacht Harbour Association organized an event where 41 members, including the British Marine Federation President Alan Morgan, met to see the spectrum of marina developments. The meeting was held in the Norfolk Broads.
Monday 5th of July 2010 saw the launch of the Limassol Marinas, an event that mark the beginning of construction, development and first sales of residential units at Nereids Residences.
SEA AXE 6711, a 67-metre Fast Yacht Support vessel has been sold by Amels. The ship is due to be built by Damen Shipyards and is the largest vessel in the SEA AXE range. She offers 140 square metres of interior deck space and 360 square metres of exterior deck space. She will accommodate 21 crew and staff.
Port Louis Marina announced a continuous growth with the recent berth sales and development. The port offers berths for mid-sized to superyachts of 90 metres (300 feet).
Extensive seminar series are to be hosted by the 2010 International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX). There will be more seminars than ever with new topics related to the entire marine industry. The 2010 IBEX is to be held from September 28-23 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
Imtech announced observation of improvement of the technological maritime market in Far East and Singapore, drawing conclusion based on the increase in orders in these areas over the past few months.
Burger Boat Company may lay off approximately 70 employees during the next six months. These layoffs will be in addition to a series of small layoffs that have occurred over the last several months. The company is positive and continues to seek new projects, which could minimize layoffs and make the notice to lay off the employees a moot point.
The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) have been awarded a grant by the Australian government to host a total of 6 Seminars to concentrate on “Driving innovation through the adoption of new technologies” to ensure businesses continue to thrive and survive.
Eel Kant has been appointed as the managing director at the Jongert Shipyard as of 1st July 2010. Mr Kant was the Managing Director of Oceanco for about 7 years, from 2003 to 2010. Kant is very positive about the yards survival after the worldwide financial crisis.
