Angelo Bonati, boss of the Italian luxury watch manufacturers and classic yacht racing sponsor Panerai, (re)launched classic sailing yacht Eilean after two and a half years of restoration work. The classic yacht is from 1936 and was created by William Fife & Son, Fairlie, Scotland. The ketch Eilean was re-launched at La Spezia in Italy in 2009.

Eilean actually means “little island” in Gaelic. This wonderful 22 metre Bermudian ketch was launched in 1936 in the little village of Fairlie on the west coast of Scotland, through the heralded yacht design talents and skills of a Mr William Fife III.

Her sail area is301 sq.m / 3,239 sq.ft and she is built form teak planking (60% original) on steel frames (all replaced in 2009). She has a mahogany interior (as new 2009) and sitka spruce spars (as new 2009) as well as original teak deck hatches, helm and binnacle.
