Transcending several areas of strict criteria covering environmental education, environmental management, safety and services and water quality, Emirates Palace Marina received the Blue Flag for appreciating the value of the marine ecosystem and how it affects the future social and economic development of the area.

In order to receive the Blue Flag certification, Emirates Palace Marina had to meet stringent performance criteria regarding water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, safety and other services. It was able to achieve this through the work of its dedicated staff members, the key to all success.

Emirates Palace Marina has a thorough environmental policy in place, covering a range of issues including vessel sewage management litter and pollution control. The pontoons being installed are floating docks, which promote marine life and minimize disturbance to the seabed. In addition, the company prohibits the dumping of waste and other harmful materials into the marina. The marina has installed a sewage pump-out system which removes waste from docked boats and puts it into the city’s sewage system.

Commenting on the award, Emirates Palace Marina Manager Capt Toby Haws said “along with the Gold Anchor scheme, and the Carbon Neutral Assessment, the Blue Flag Award fits in with ART Marine Marinas philosophy of creating true lifestyle destinations that are clean, safe and respectful of the environment.” He added, “the marina is proud to have received the award and will ensure to adhere to the strict criteria’s year after year to ensure being a Blue Flag bearer”. Other marinas managed by ART Marine Marinas fly the Blue Flag; it includes Al Bandar Marina in Abu Dhabi, and Marti Marina in Turkey.
