The 30.48m (100ft) luxury catamaran yacht Q5 (hull YD66) by Yachting Developments is nearing completion, with a launch date in early June 2012. This wonderful vessel provides a beautiful owner´s cabin, two double cabins as well as one twin cabin, together with a children’s den offering two storable berths.

The 100ft sailing yacht Q5, also known as build number YD66, currently under construction by the prestigious NZ builder Yachting Developments, is almost completed. Boasting the naval architecture as well as exterior styling by Warwick Yacht Design and lovely interior by renowned Redman Whiteley Dixon, the Q5 superyacht is due to be launched early June 2012.

Measuring 100ft (30.48m) in length and a staggering 48 feet (14.63m) in beam the luxury yacht Q5 is being built to stringent GL class survey requirements.  Construction is high strength light weight post-cured epoxy Eglass/Carbon fibre incorporating foam sandwich technology.

To increase efficiency during the build process and assist in future maintenance, the Q5 superyacht´s structural design features large “Soft Patches” located on both hulls inside topsides allowing direct engine room access during construction and for long term maintenance.

Powered by two 455hp C7 Caterpillar engines, the 30.48m catamaran yacht Q5 is expected to cruise between 12-14knots under power. The generators are Kohler and the custom deck gear is by Yachting Developments. The winches and furlers are by Harken, and the captive winches are by Onboard System NZ. The thrusters and standing rigging are manufactured by OYS.

The carbon fibre mast is being built by Southern Spars NZ while sails are by Doyle NZ. Onboard water toys include a Hobbie sailing Catamaran, 7m outboard powered catamaran tender, Water Vehicles, kayaks, plus a spa pool in the foredeck.

The interior is designed by Redman Whitely Dixon with a brief to incorporate both modern and traditional furnishings with a light color palette.  Accommodation consists of an owner’s cabin located on the main level with direct access to the foredeck and spa pool area. The lower deck has two double cabins and one twin cabin along with a children’s den which includes two storable berths.

The lower deck forward is home for the crew while further aft on the lower deck is home to the Captain and guest cabins. The main saloon and bar areas are located on the main deck and an enclosed all-weather pilothouse is located on the upper level.

Owners representation has been provided by Newport based Marine Construction Management (MCM).

Once launched, the owner intends to enjoy the luxury catamaran yacht Q5 (hull YD66) with family, cruising throughout different parts of the world.
