Superyacht UK started this year with a very well attended networking event, organised at the Royal Thames Yacht Club on January 26. More than 70 delegates were present, representing a wide section of the industry, including brokers, designers, builders plus equipment and service providers.
All the delegates were treated to a presentation by Martin Redmayne on the Superyacht Annual Report and economic impact study. The presentation covered the current global conditions and reflected on the past 5 years with the “one off” yards and builds on spec now largely removed from the market. It also covered how the UK is well placed to service the market given its strength in depth from build and design through to the strength of the London City institutions that form the back office functions of the industry.
Martin said, ”I relished the opportunity to present Superyacht Intelligence’s latest statistics and market analysis to our fellow Superyacht UK members. The Superyacht Annual Report is available on the Superyacht Intelligence´s website now, and the full Economic Impact Study will be available in coming weeks. We know they’ll be used to inform and enhance company strategies, as well as helping to positively influence and educate governments as to the importance and global spread of our industry.”
After the presentation the delegates continued networking in the prestigious surroundings of the Royal Thames. James Roy, Yacht Design Director at BMT Nigel Gee said, “I very much enjoyed the event, being able to network with all the other superyacht professionals in such a venue was a real bonus. I picked up many contacts, information and overview of the industry through the comprehensive statistics presented by Martin Redmayne.”
