This annual ceremony celebrates the Barcolana Regatta which this year took place on October 9th in the waters of the Gulf Trieste. Nearly 2,000 yachts entered providing a massive spectacle. The event is dubbed ‘the largest single-start regatta in the world´ and attracts not only the world’s sailors but over 300,000 spectators and hoards of media reporters.

The race course maneuvers through 16.5 miles providing a respectable challenge for Swan yachts to tackle. For 2011 on the water victory in the Swan Class was taken by the Italian, Swan 56 Vanish.

Giorgio Passarella of Nautor’s Swan, Italy presented the Swan Trophy to owner, Alvise Zanetti who commented, “I am very happy to receive the Swan Trophy this year and my aim now is to encourage more Swan owners to take part. Nautor’s Swan do an excellent job at promoting their annual calendar, but a lot of the Swan yachts in this region of Italy are orientated more towards cruising. I would like more owners to follow in my foot steps and participate in top quality racing events such as the Rolex Swan Cup next September in Porto Cervo”.
