As well as designing and constructing new yachts, Dutch builder Van Dam Nordia also carry out extensive refits to the highest Dutch standards. This month they have welcomed the 80ft Hoek Truly Classic Yacht Mulligan to thier yard. S/Y Mulligan is a classic sailing yacht built in 1996 designed by Andre Hoek.

The refit of the Truly Classic 80 Sail Yacht Mulligan at the Van Dam Nordia yard will include working on the teak decks, repainting the yacht and a technical update. The client chose Van Dam Nordia because of the yards renowned craftsmanship and professionalism, combined with some impressive cost efficiencies.

The Truly Classic 80 (TC 80) design by Hoek Design represents an evolution of the concept developed for the TC75 yacht, with separate crew accommodation and larger engine rooms. The main engine room on the Truly Classic 80 (TC 80) is located under the deckhouse floor without having any impact on the interior volume. All the cabins can be made more spacious and have ensuite facilities.

Two TC 80s have been built thus far, namely Sailing yacht Mulligan and Palmyre. Both had amazing interiors, with the latter being nominated for the 2002 International Superyacht Design Award.
Van Dam Nordia was founded in 1881 and is one of the world’s oldest shipyards. The Van Dam yard has passed through the family ranks and today is still owner by the Van Dam family and run by Robert van Dam’s son-in-law, managing director Jacco Jongkind. The yard currently has about 30 employees that work closely together with sub-contractors to achieve thier ultimate goal; Building yachts to the highest quality standards.
