SAMAYA

Launched in 2017, 69m/226ft superyacht SAMAYA is a custom-built yacht designed for an owner with a strong interest in diving and exploring the world’s oceans. At the keel-laying ceremony, the owner gave a solemn promise that the vessel would be used both for scientific research and documenting the rare marine species and environments which they inhabit.

To this end, explorer yacht SAMAYA is designed for extensive diving with a fully-equipped dive centre in the aft, a heated plunge pool for warming up after swimming in cold depths, heated interiors that can reach 30°C for a quicker recovery and two secluded beds up by the sundeck mast with their own ventilation for post-dive recovery.

De Voogt Naval Architects created expedition yacht SAMAYA’s flowing form based on the shape of a bull shark and the hull uses a pristine white coating under a subtle pink layer that adds a rosy hue to the hull at sunrise and sunset.

There are extensive outdoor areas for guests to connect with their surroundings as well as for hosting large parties and special events.

The interior is by Redman Whiteley Dixon, and the design incorporates cultural influences from the owner’s personal experiences for a truly personalized environment. On the bridge deck, there is an ethnically-styled salon that can be used as a media room for watching the day’s dives as a family.
