Sailing Yacht ETHEREAL is a 2009 58 meter (190 feet) luxury yacht built by Royal Huisman with interior design by Pieter Beeldsnijder and naval architecture by Ron Holland Design. S/Y ETHEREAL is a ketch of imposing size.

The yacht’s interior designer, Pieter Beeldsnijder, incorporates the tradition of yachting whilst also integrating the modern needs of stylish, yet relaxed, living and a functional approach to light, natural wooden joinery and space. Up to 10 guests can be accommodated overnight, in 3 double and 2 twin bedded cabins, while 12 can be aboard for day sailing.

Sailing Yacht ETHEREAL was designed by Ron Holland to be a blend of traditional and classic yacht lines, which perhaps disguise an extraordinary level of modern technological innovation which focuses on energy conservation and sustainable, autonomous operation. Ron Holland has done a wonderful job in collaboration with the yacht’s owner on this very successful superyacht project.

The origins of luxury yacht Ethereal are in the 43m ketch, S/Y Juliet, which was coveted by the owners and this was the base for the “dream team” of Ron Holland Design, Pieter Beeldsnijder and the Royal Huisman yacht yard. With S/Y Ethereal, however, the owner wanted to progress his experience and knowledge to create a far larger yacht, and one which is certainly more technologically advanced and developed.

She is essentially an innovative energy saving ‘green yacht’ which can operate independently and energy-efficiently for extended periods.

Windows and hatches manufactured from exotic glass laminates designed to become increasingly opaque as infrared heat increases; hybrid electromechanical propulsion system that allows the yacht, under sail, to charge its technically-advanced bank of lithium polymer batteries instead of using generators.

Ethereal is packed with technology, with a total of 21 computers carrying out the Alarm and monitoring system. 18 custom PC based room controllers maintain a room’s environment by operating air-conditioning, lighting, and shades as well as displaying yacht information, charts and cameras.

There are computers available and equipped for guest use in the Master cabin and Guest study to ensure any business can be taken care-of easily while out on the water. There are also personal Laptops that can join the “guest Wi-Fi network” with a click of a mouse.

The core entertainment system is centered in the lower salon with a 70” TV screen and the guest study with its 42” screen – which are both equipped with blue-ray together with Apple-T.V. units.

Also, an airport based entertainment system throughout ensures boat-wide music & entertainment, whilst remaining unobtrusive and uncluttered with gadgetry.

Ethereal has Wi-Fi throughout all areas – deck, interior and technical spaces and is equipped with two VSAT antennas to ensure good internet coverage. In areas of reduced coverage Fleet broadband (BGAN) is available and costing is pro-rata. Fleet and Iridium satellite coms ensure worldwide communications.

With well-considered outside sunning and entertainment areas, a good selection of water toys, and a functional swim platform, ETHEREAL is an exceptional yacht for her owners as well as the guests on board.
