A new super yacht facility  opened up on the west side of the Southampton water, just opposite Southampton city.  Solent Refit  features a large capacity 1500 ton horizontal slipway capable of handling vessels up to 70 metres.

Vessels can be easily moved from the slipway to locations for longer periods if work out of the water, with a purpose built rail transfer system. There is also a 10,000 square metre of under cover work area, for those requiring protection from weather.

Solent Refit has a unique location  for super-yacht in the Solent Area. It has unrestricted access direct from deep channel of Southampton Water, at all states of tides. There are no sills or obstacles to the main slipway and the large working pontoons can
provide 14 service berths for superyachts up to 100m with road access.

Workshop containers and office on the dock are provided by Solent Refit ashore. Heavy lifting cranes and shoreside equipment are available to support work projects, that include stepping of masts for large yachts.

There is a number of superyachts that visited the yard recently. Some were there for work alongside and others slipped and moved to the undercover sheds. The 1500 ton parallel slipway is able to lift yachts up to 70 metres . Southampton Water’s distinct double tide allows for a safe tidal margin fro slipping, unlike other UK slipways. Professional divers on station throughout complete a safety check at every stage of the process.

The costs are extremely competitive, often with up to 30% cheaper charges than those of comparable European yards, with the costs of skilled on-site labour comparing favourably against foreign charges.

The site is being managed by the company Yacht Project Associates based in Christchurch, Dorset.
