Renowned for some of the finest luxury yachts cruising our waters, the Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman has released a construction update and new images of the eagerly awaited 55+m (180+ft) motor yacht project PHI. The yacht’s hull and superstructure were joined and Phi is now in the yard’s largest hall number 2 where she will undergo further assembly work and outfitting.

The fast-displacement yacht under 500GT features a fuel-efficient Fast Displacement XL ® hull form by Van Oossanen Naval Architects with exterior design with design by Cor D. Rover, naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects while her interiors were designed by Lawson Robb. The project was named after the ‘Sectio Divina’ or the Golden Ratio, a formula that governs the continuation of dimensions and shapes in natural proportions throughout the design of the yacht.

PHI will offer an excellent performance combined with elegant, head-turning looks and high-end technology. One of the biggest challenges of the construction and design of this vessel are the installation of comprehensive machinery and technical systems into a relatively low volume, long and sleek hull.

PHI will also have a matching yacht support vessel or shadow boat, also designed by Cor D. Rover and Van Oossanen Naval Architects, which is under construction in Asia. What more, PHI’s unique and innovative exteriors and interiors will feature patented design details with technical innovations in place. The superyacht is being built in very close collaboration between the proud shipyard, the owner and the entire design team, in order to deliver her in 2021.
