Royal Huisman has released an update about the hull turning of in-build motor yacht PHI at the Royal Huisman shipyard in Vollenhove.

After leaving the shed on a dreary autumn day, four cranes were required to turn over the hull and return her inside for work to continue on construction and outfitting.

The sleek vessel features the exterior styling of Cor D. Rover while the interiors are the work of Lawson Robb. Built with a Fast Displacement XL ® hull form developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, the all-aluminium vessel comes in under 500 GT despite having a length greater than 55m/180ft.

Luxury yacht PHI is being created for an experienced Owner who, according to the shipyard, engaged in ‘many hours of deep conversation over a period of years’ with Cor D. Rover before entering construction. As a result, superyacht PHI has an appearance completely unique on the market and will incorporate many cutting-edge patented technological features.

The greatest challenge to the engineering team is the installation of systems and engines into a low-volume, long and sleek hull while producing top-notch results with the simplicity of operations and maintenance on board. For this reason, the Owner turned to the Royal Huisman shipyard, which has a stellar reputation in producing bespoke, head-turning hulls that match peerless looks with unsurpassed technological solutions and on-board comfort.

Superyacht PHI is due for delivery in 2021 and will have a shadow vessel of 36m/118ft built by Alia Yachts with design also by Cor D. Rover and naval architecture from Van Oossanen.
