Espen Oeino and Luca Bassani have come together to collaborate on the latest Wally luxury yacht: The 165 WALLYPOWER. Measuring 50m/164ft, the superyacht from Ferretti Group is designed to change the way that the industry considers cruising in the Mediterranean, the world’s most popular luxury yacht charter grounds.

The 165 WALLYPOWER was inspired by the looks of the 118 WALLYPOWER, one of the shipyard’s first defining powerboat concepts to break away from the mould in recent times. Oeino took the most iconic aspects of the Bassani design and created a completely new category. Within the 499 GT volume interior there is a main deck Master suite plus four other guest en-suite cabins on the lower deck, and crew accommodation and facilities in the bow. The tenders are concealed beneath the foredeck for optimal space usage on board.

The beach club and swim platform on the lower deck provide U-shaped seating, and the space can be extended further using the fold-down bulwarks.
On the main deck amidships there is a generous salon and formal dining area with double fold-down balconies on both sides. The aft hosts a swimming pool and sunpads cover the stern.

The sundeck is 15m/49ft long and there is a U-shaped bar, a sofa and a sunbed for guests to rest outdoors in the sunshine.

Performance and efficiency are key concepts behind the design, which uses a piercing bow to effortlessly cut through the waves. The clean, sharp exterior lines create an uncluttered appearance that flows seamlessly into the generous interior, where full-height windows and a ‘glass canopy’ superstructure provide a close connection to the natural environment.
The open yacht uses diesel engines and waterjet propulsion for a top speed of 30 knots and the piercing bow produces a smooth ride free from the ‘slamming’ effect often experienced with rides at high speeds.
