Amer Yachts has announced that it will be using the innovative recyclable and reusable mineral fibre FILAVA® for its next generation of luxury yachts, replacing fibreglass and its end-of-life recycling issue.

The volcanic fibre FILAVA® is made from rich basalt through a proprietary process, and at the end of its lifespan, it can be completely recycled into a new fibre to start its life again without losing any of its properties. FILAVA® is softer and more malleable than fibreglass while offering aerospace, ballistic grade mechanical properties and improved fire resistance.
ENEA and RINA have begun drafting certification for the material and Amer Yachts has signed an agreement with GS4C and the composite manufacturer to design and build the next non-structural fixture that will become a part of the next in-build luxury yacht.
The production moulds can be constructed from FILAVA®, allowing for the recovery of all scraps in the manufacturing process to be recycled and reused again. This innovative technology also means that the engines will be entirely recyclable and their design and disassembly will ensure that Amer Yachts are at the top of Eco-sustainable design.
