Baltic Yachts has announced that the Finnish shipyard will be building a new BALTIC 146 CUSTOM sailing yacht for a client who intends to use it for bluewater cruising. Judel/Vrolijk & co. will produce her naval architecture and advanced composites using epoxy SPRINT and pre-preg carbon will be used in the construction of the hull and superstructure.

On the lower deck, the guest accommodation is comprised of a double-sized master suite and three further double guest cabins in the mid and forward sections, leaving the aft for four crew cabins to sleep up to seven.
Above deck, a hardtop bimini will extend from the large deck salon for a shaded alfresco living, while a separate bimini will protect the dual helm stations to the aft.

A tender well will be placed on the foredeck for efficient space usage on board. Other features include a fold-over anchor system and a lazarette in the stern. To avoid the need of a stern thruster the 550 HP main engine has a forward-facing pull propeller that can be rotated.
The lifting keel ensures that the BALTIC 146 CUSTOM will be able to adapt to the conditions, changing from 5.9m/19ft to 3.4m/11ft for greater stability in transatlantic conditions and access to shallow bays for shelter.
Construction of the new sailing yacht is expected to start mid-February 2019 with a delivery date set for mid-summer 2021.
