Royal Huisman has announced that construction has begun on ‘Project 400’, an 81m/266ft three masted schooner and the world’s largest aluminium yacht, at its shipyard in Vollenhove, with delivery expected in 2020.

Commissioned by an Asian client, the naval architecture is the work of Dykstra Naval Architects and both teams have been in close contact with Royal Huisman to complete the design, architecture and the majority of the engineering in less than a year.
The design contains a number of unique features, such as the sliding Rondal doors with individual moving glass panels that open ups up the cockpit to the interior. A hydraulically operated crow’s nest allows provides guests with the opportunity to ride up the main mast to take in the spectacular scenic views.

In line with the owner’s requests, interior designer Mark Whiteley created highly comfortable interiors suitable for family, friends and business meetings. Alpi walnut bulkheads provide a high quality finish while remaining ecologically sustainable and oak is used for the floors. The forward saloon features a large dining area able to seat up to 16 guests, while crew accommodation seats up to 11 guests.

Once completed, her water toys and tenders will be stored under the aft deck, with the selection on offer to include kayaks, paddleboards, diving equipment and water scooters.
A model of the Royal Huisman Project 400 schooner will be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show running from the 37th-30th of September.
