Originally launched in 1974, the Class 1 icebreaker vessel Legend (that time known as Giant) was built by IHC Verschure. She was used in the Baltic Sea back in the Soviet times during the Cold War. Later on, she was bought by Jan Verkerk, whose main goal was to bring something exceptional to the yachting market. Then motor yacht Legend went through a massive rebuild and transformation at the Icon Yachts shipyard and was relaunched in March 2016.

M/Y Legend was known for her outstanding ability to cruise anywhere in the world. She was recently spotted cruising in the icy waters of Antarctica. This adds to her reputation of being a safe and exceptional performance icebreaker.

In collaboration with Verkerk Yachting Projects, Icon Yachts completed a rebuilt of the yacht, which included the extension of her stern by 3.6m to measure 77.40m/263’11”. The interior, piping, electronics, electrical, main engines and generators, pumps, heating and air conditioning, mechanical systems, and incinerator have been added or replaced with the highest quality equipment.
