The latest news come from Germany and the official confirmation of Luerssen Maritime Beteiligungen GmbH & Co. KG acquiring Blohm + Voss GmbH has been announced. Lurssen, a family owned company based in Bremen, looks into strengthening its repair and refit services for yachts, naval and commercial ships. Another goal is to enhance naval new build activities within the corporation.
Upon the approval the new owner will be able to see and review detailed information in the internal organisational structures and process in Blohm + Voss.
At the end of September a purchase agreement was singed between the two companies, and now, since the German Fair Trade Commission approved Blohm + Voss acquisition, the ownership transfer will take place.
Dr. Klaus Borgschulte, Technical Director at Luerssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG explained that in the next few weeks a lot of emphasis will be put on exchanging information, evolve and implement initial operations to integrate the Hamburg shipyard to Lurssen Group.
