The organisers of the 2016 Singapore Yacht Show have announced a fantastic end to the event, with almost perfect weather throughout. The show finished with a traditional cacophony of horns, and an overall feeling of satisfaction.

Perhaps the most attention was drawn by five beautiful superyachts on display that included the 56m Benetti M/Y Lady Candy, the 55m Amels LA FAMILIA, the 50m SENSATION, TRIPLE 8, a 43,5-metre ROYAL DENSHIP yacht and a 34m AZUL by Moonen.

Sunreef 68 catamaran EAGLE WINGS also saw her premiere at the show. The multihull hosted a spectacular show on Friday evening featuring showgirls in from Paris, a top-deck chanteuse, a colourful light show as well as fireworks.

The largest exhibitor of the show was Princess Yachts, having displayed eleven boats in the water from 13,5 metres to 27 metres. In addition, the company hosted a floating bar and lounge, which became very popular during the event.

The Singapore Yacht Show is a ‘sister’ event to the Thailand Yacht Show (TYS), and event organiser Andy Treadwell noted that not only are the two complementary, they are in fact indispensable to each other. Due to be scheduled at opposite ends of the season, the two superyacht-centric but all-embracing shows formed the core of his business plan for Asia written back in 2010.

Singapore is the principal international business hub of Asia – easily accessible, and a place where buyers can take in the Show and conduct some non-boating business at the same time. This makes it regionally attractive. TYS is a destination show, right in the middle of the best-known cruising grounds in the region – the Andaman Sea and Phang Nga Bay. At our Show in Phuket, prospective buyers – and equally importantly, prospective charterers – can see and even try out yachts in their proper habitat, so to speak, at the beginning of the season,” said Andy Treadwell
