The prominent South African builder, Southern Wind Shipyard, is proud to announce the launch of the SW82#02 sailing yacht Grande Orazio. Superyacht Grande Orazio represents the second unit of the SW82’ series and was launched in Cape Town on Sunday, January 19, 2014.

The Grande Orazio yacht was christened in the commercial harbour by the wife of the owner on a glorious summer day. The ceremony was attended by the family of the owner, management and personnel of the shipyard and a selected number of guests.
SW 82#02 luxury yacht Grande Orazio follows just six months after the launch of the SW82#01 superyacht Feelin’ Good and confirms the success of this mini-series designed by the team of Farr Yacht Design (naval architecture, sail plan and appendages) and Nauta Design (general concept, deck and interior design) which has been successfully working with Southern Wind Shipyards for many years.

The owner’s initial brief was to have a yacht capable of delivering thrilling performance while racing, and being comfortable and safe for family vacations.
The deck layout chosen for Grande Orazio superyacht is the Flush Deck version with sleek and sporty coach-roof geometries and racing oriented rigging solutions such as the High-Modulus Southern Spars carbon fiber mast and boom, EC6 + Carbon rigging, carbon foil for furler, racing winches and removable bowsprit. Below the waterline the yacht features a customized rudder blade and keel of 4.20 mt (the standard design is 4,00 mt).
The interior lay-out has also been extensively customized in order t offer ample volumes and maximum flexibility for the different uses of the yacht, from racing to cruising. Crew quarters and galley are located aft, saloon amidship and owner’s cabin/studio forward. Four additional cabins can be used alternatively by guests or crew.
Luxury yacht Grande Orazio will leave Cape Town by mid March 2014 upon completion of commissioning and sea trials. The yacht, after the 7,000 miles maiden voyage, will be based in the Mediterranean where the owner’s intentions are to take part in the 12th edition of the Southern Wind Trophy, held within the ‘Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta’ (Porto Cervo, 3 – 7 June 2014), in the ‘Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup’ (Porto Cervo, 1 – 6 September 2014) and in the ‘Rolex Middle Sea Race’ (October 2014).
