Rayglass Boats CEO Tony Hembrow announced recently that the 2012 Olympics organising committee has secured a significant number of their rigid inflatable patrol crafts. The New Zealand company CEO further mentions, that Police, security forces and those responsible for patrolling the race courses at the Olympics are also taking into consideration purchase of the kiwi manufactured Protectors.

The Protectors will be based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and the adjoining commercial marina, in Dorset on England’s south coast, the sailing venue for the 2012 Games.
The company’s success in catching the eye of the organizers follows the increasing popularity of the Protector range on the other side of the Atlantic, in the United States.
“Since our first shipment of Protectors arrived in the US, the interest has been incredible,” says Hembrow. “It has also been widespread and surprisingly diverse. We have sold boats for waterways’ policing, as superyacht tenders and even to work in shallow canal zones.“
“Protectors are now hard at work in States as far apart as Florida, California and Maine.”
Protector boats are manufactured in Rayglass’s new state-of-the-art production facility in Pakuranga and exported to countries all over the world. The Protector range is used in a variety of commercial, military and pleasure boat applications. They were also prominent in the 2009 America’s Cup Deed of Gift race. Both Alinghi and Oracle used Protectors as chase and support boats while Protectors were also used by the race committee as both umpire and patrol boats
