Conference chairman Dr Mohammed Hamdan Al Shamsi said: “During any boating industry show there is a need to have the scientific element in addition to the business side and people need to be aware of critical issues including technology, safety, insurance, and marine licensing among others. Events like the Gulf Boating Conference facilitate constructive discussions, help forge new links and develop the industry in the right manner between government and non-government organisations, as the buoyant GCC boating industry continues its positive growth.”

A Trade Panel Debate, including some of the top regional and global boat manufacturers, marina operators, marina authorities, marina construction companies and dealers, also took place during the Gulf Boating Conference. The debating panel includes representatives from Art Marina Marinas, Bellingham Marine, Exalto Emirates, Gulf Craft and Majesty Yachts, HISWA and Macky Marine.

The Luxury Supplies and Services (LSS) and Equipment Supplies and Services (ESS) Industry Seminars, which began yesterday, provide an important opportunity for professionals to network and understand the changes occurring across the region. The packed seminar programme continues today with topics covering training and certification, the diving environment in the GCC and an impact analysis of the UAE yacht code.

The Dubai International Boat Show is open to trade visitors and the general public from 3pm to 9:30pm daily from tomorrow and runs from 5 – 9 March, 2013. General admission is AED60 per person for all attendees, while children under 12 will be admitted free of charge (they must be accompanied by an adult at all times). Access to the Marina Display Area may be restricted at certain times.
