The latest ‘wide-body’ version of the Tri-Air 30 yacht tender by Trefoil Marine has successfully undergone its sea trials. Belonging to the popular Tri-Air line of high performance craft, the splendid Tri-Air Widebody 30 boat achieved speeds of more than 40 mph on initial trials, when run by twin 150 hp Suzuki engines. With 225 hp engines it is expected to exceed 55 mph.

The configuration shown above uses the smallest console configuration to give almost 250 square feet of deck space. With this huge area, carrying sails or other equipment at speeds of over 50 mph (with 225 hp outboards), moving high-volume equipment or up to eight people is easy and fast. For owners who want more comfort, a larger console with its own head and twin bolster seats, or a 6-person air-conditioned cabin version are available. With the huge deck area the boat’s configuration can be adapted for use as a yacht tender, fire boat, harbormaster, police, Coast Guard and as a military vessel.

“I am very happy with the way the boat performed, “ said Trefoil’s President James Mattingly. “It lived up to our expectations in every way and complements our line of fast tri-hull craft. These trials at Front Street Shipyard in Maine established the Tri-Air 30 as fast, comfortable, and easy to operate.”

The Tri-Air hull configuration uses air moving through the wide channels under the hull to create lift and support the hull at higher speeds. With an overall beam of 11′ 6″ the Tri-Air 30 yacht tender is extremely stable and barely heels when making high speed turns. While the hull configuration remains the same, the console configuration can be changed easily to suit the owner’s requirements with three different options.
