Running from September 2 to 8, the 2012 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is to kick off in less than one month. This year’s 23rd edition will be marked by the competitive premiere of the 164ft sailing yacht Better Place as well as the 216ft superyacht Hetairos.
The 2nd edition of the Rolex Volcano Race was concluded with the Rolex party and prizegiving at La Canzone del Mare on Friday 25 May, with Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou winning the Rolex Trophy and timepiece as well as the 112ft superyacht Nilaya receiving a Rolex timepiece as a line-honours winner.
The overall victory in the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race has gone to the 60ft yacht Jethou, followed by the 112ft luxury yacht Nilaya taking second place and the Wally 100 superyacht Y3K placing third.
The first vessel to finish the 300-nautical mile course of the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race was the Filip Balcaen’s 112ft superyacht Nilaya, followed by the Claus-Peter Offen’s 100ft sailing yacht Wally Y3K taking second place and the Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou placing third.
Leg Two of the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race started today with a delay, at 18:00 CEST from Marina Piccola in Capri.

Expected to arrive in Capri tomorrow, the 15 crews competing in the Rolex Volcano Race left Gaeta in Italy today at 15:00 CEST.
Today’s windward/leeward race, marking the beginning of the Rolex Volcano Race 2012 has been won by Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft sailing yacht Mini Maxi Jethou.
With the participation of such spectacular vessels as the 100ft superyacht Y3K or the 112ft sailing yacht Nilaya, the Rolex Volcano Race officially kicks off on Sunday 20 May.

The second edition of the Nespresso Cup came to a conclusion in Portofino with Andrea Recordati’s sailing yacht INDIO delivering a near emphatic victory in the Overall Division to lift the stylish Nespresso Cup Trophy, whilst Philippe Ligier’s Wally yacht Ryokan 2 snatched victory from S/Y INTI in the Performance Division in the very final race.
The battle lines have been drawn for the final day of racing for the Nespresso Cup tomorrow after today’s penultimate day produced only one race in the light conditions of Portofino. Andrea Recordati’s sailing yacht INDIO scored another victory to claim three wins from the three races so far in the Overall Division, and strengthen their position at the top of the Nespresso Cup overall leaderboard ahead of Y3K and S/Y Magic Carpet2.
