The preparations for the Venice AC World Series, running from May 17 to 20, are well underway, with its village taking shape as well as the Italian team, Luna Rossa Challenge, already starting its first test sailing.
The official village of the Venice America’s Cup World Series Race, called Arsenale, is taking its shape. The race runs from May 17 to 20.
May 12 will see the start of the City of Venice Trophy – an invitational regatta organised by the yacht club Venice Compagnia della Vela, offering €50,000 in prize money to its winner. The club has launched this new, two-day event to mark a nine-day festival celebrating the Venice AC World Series that run from May 17-20.
San Francisco as well as Venice are busy with preparations for the 34th America´s Cup. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has officially signed the agreement to host the America´s Cup in summer 2013, while Venice in Italy is getting ready for the next edition of the AC World Series.
America’s Cup World Series is now moving from Naples to Venice, Italy for the penultimate yacht regatta, running from May 15 to 20, 2012. The ACWS sailors will have to face one of the narrowest and most challenging race course in competitive sailing. Everybody is asking now whether the Italian team Luna Rossa Challenge can win two races in a row.
It has been a great success for the Venice International Boat Show/NauticShow 2012 with increase of over 30% of yachts as well as exhibitors in comparison to the last year. Around 25.000 visitors were present at the Show, admiring 220 yachts on display.
With only one month to go to the Venice AC World Series, it can be said that the AC World Series reached a new level, both on as well as off the water, with great crews racing – the same ones also expected to compete in Venice.
11th Venice International Boat Show/NauticShow, running from April 13-15 and April 20-22, 2012 hosts 160 exhibitors and 200 yachts. More than 50.000 visitors are expected.
Compagnia della Vela will welcome the 34th America´s Cup in Venice, Italy in May. There will be four conferences, during which some of the best international sailing players will speak about their experience in the America’s Cup world.
