The overall winner on Day 1 of the Venice AC World Series has become the French Energy Team, followed by the Italian Luna Rossa Swordfish coming second and the Team Korea taking the third place.

With the ACWS trophy to be awarded to Series winner in Newport next month, the Venice AC World Series is the penultimate event of the 2011-12 AC World Series, with the Jimmy Spithill’s ORACLE TEAM USA currently winning just by one point over Dean Barker’s Emirates Team New Zealand.

Venice AC World Series 2012: The City of Venice Trophy, May 12-13

May 12 will see the start of the City of Venice Trophy – an invitational regatta organised by the yacht club Venice Compagnia della Vela, offering €50,000 in prize money to its winner. The club has launched this new, two-day event to mark a nine-day festival celebrating the Venice AC World Series that run from May 17-20.

34th America´s Cup: Preparations well underway in San Francisco and Venice

San Francisco as well as Venice are busy with preparations for the 34th America´s Cup. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has officially signed the agreement to host the America´s Cup in summer 2013, while Venice in Italy is getting ready for the next edition of the AC World Series.

America’s Cup World Series is now moving from Naples to Venice, Italy for the penultimate yacht regatta, running from May 15 to 20, 2012. The ACWS sailors will have to face one of the narrowest and most challenging race course in competitive sailing. Everybody is asking now whether the Italian team Luna Rossa Challenge can win two races in a row.
