Youth charity and maritime training provider UKSA is seeking applications from young people to join its Yachting Cadetship training programme under an assisted funded scheme. Successful maritime candidates will receive funding from Trinity House, the charity which supports the “future leaders of superyachting”, as part of its Professional Yachtsman Bursary Scheme (PYBS).

The new facility is 0.5miles down the road from their original factory and is a former Maritime Education and Training facility, which once housed a full size simulator mock up of a ships bridge deck.

“Destination UK” is a new initiative designed to promote the UK’s cruising grounds to visiting Superyachts in the lead up to the 2012 Olympics and the legacy years. The event is focussed on making it as easy as possible for Superyachts to visit the UK. The more Yachts we can attract, the more opportunities there are for SYUK members and the UK supply chain.
Ocean Signal, the UK manufacturer of marine communication and safety products, which include EPIRBs, SARTs and VHF radios, will open its own US sales operation this month as Ocean Signal America. The new company, headed up by CEO Talbot Pratt, will be based in Newburyport, MA and will share facilities with Digital Yacht and Digital Deep Sea which manufacture a complementary range of marine electronic products including AIS, chart plotters and marine PCs, for both commercial and leisure markets.
