This year’s 35th Anniversary Rolex Middle Sea Race was marked by a record number of entries, as well as a wide range of weather conditions. The overall winner of the 2014 event has become Lee Satariano’s Maltese J/122 Artie yacht. The 36th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race will kick off on October 17, 2015.
Day 5 of the Rolex Middle Sea Race 2014 saw the 100-foot maxi yacht Esimit Europa 2 claim line honours, followed by Niklas Zennström’s sailing yacht Rán, placing second.
Day 4 of the currently running Rolex Middle Sea Race 2014 saw only three boats pass the northwest tip of Sicily, roughly the halfway point of the race: Ran 2 yacht, Esimit Europa 2 superyacht and Shockwave yacht.
Day 3 of the currently running Rolex Middle Sea Race 2014 saw all but four yachts round Stromboli and the front-runners are approaching Palermo at the northwest tip of Sicily.
Saturday, October 18, was marked by the record start of the 2014 Rolex Middle Sea Race, attended by an impressive fleet of 122 yachts. The favoured candidate for the line honours victory is the 100-foot Maxi yacht Esimit Europa 2.
The 100-foot (30,47m) LOA monohull limit has been raised for the 2015 editions of the Rolex Fastnet Race as well as the Rolex Middle Sea Race. This will entice yachts over 100ft to compete.
This year’s 35th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race will kick off from Grand Harbour, a lovely Malta yacht rental location, on October 18, and will last until October 25, 2014. The event is expected to host the biggest fleet in its history.
It has been another successful edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race this year, attended by 99 yachts from 19 countries. Royal Malta Yacht Club believes that the race will break the symbolic hundred entrant level next year.
Sailing yacht B2 from Italy has been confirmed as the overall winner of the 34th Rolex Middle Sea Race, while the 86-foot superyacht Morning Glory claimed line honours two days ago.
The highly anticipated 34th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race 2013 will start tomorrow, on Saturday, October 19. The event is expected to be attended by a record number of 100 yachts.
Yesterday, October 16, was marked by the traditional Coastal Race, serving as good practice for the Rolex Middle Sea Race. Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, the event was attended by 23 yachts.
