Set to kick off on Sunday, August 11, 2013, the Rolex Fastnet Race will require from the skipper and crew to have a current Spinlock IRC rating certificate, as well as the stability information to ensure the yacht is suitable to participate in the 600 mile offshore race.
Set to run this August, the Rolex Fastnet Race 2013 will be attended by the largest number of participants in its 89-year history. Niklas Zennström’s 72′ mini maxi yacht Rán 2 will be once again present, hoping to win the race for the third time in a row.
New sailing season will see four strong Russian sailors competing aboard the 100-foot superyacht Esimit Europa 2. In addition, the new technological improvements have been announced.
The upcoming Rolex Fastnet Race is expected to host a record number of 380 yachts this year, including such spectacular vessels as the 100-foot charter yacht ICAP Leopard. The race will kick off on August 11, 2013.
In order to satisfy demand for places, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) has increased the number of places available for IRC rated boats by an extra 40 places, to 340. To cope with this, the event will be moved to Plymouth Yacht Haven, featuring the extra berthing, if needed.
The Royal Ocean Racing Club confirmed that the new record had been broken with 300 yacht entry limit for the 2013 Rolex Fastnet Race reached in 24 hours.
The popular, biennial Fastnet Race will partner with Rolex for the next five editions, until 2021. Its 2013 edition will kick off on August 11.
