Sailing Ship Vessel Oliver Hazard Perrys’ Experiential Education Programs

Rhode Island students will participate in experiential education aboard the Education at Sea school ship SSV Oliver Hazard Perry when completed in 2013. Deborah Gist, R.I. Commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, put her stamp of approval on the project being developed through the non-profit organization Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island (OHPRI).

Simrad Yachting receives Top Honors at the Newport International Boat Show

Simrad Yachting received two awards at the 2010 Newport International Boat Show. The Simrad NSE navigation system with 2.0 software was named “Best New Boating Product” and Simrad Yachting received the Five Star Award for its “Best in Show” booth display.

Newport Shipyards new 100 BFMII Superyacht Travelift

Newport Shipyard of Newport, Rhode Island, has acquired one of Marine Travelift Inc.’s 100 BFMII mobile boat hoists for race boats, catamarans, motor and sailing yachts up to the 90- and 100-foot range. The new machine joins another Marine Travelift hoist already on site.

Newport International Boat Show to celebrate 40th anniversary

The Newport International Boat Show will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. The show, which runs September 16-19 2010 in Newport, R.I., is one of the largest in-water boat shows in the country and covers more than 13 acres along America’s Cup Avenue.
