Wally Superyacht Regattas and Boat Shows in 2011

Wally has a busy 2011 calendar attending a total of 8 Superyacht Regattas and Boat Shows during the 2011 yachting season. The regattas include Palmavela, The Nespresso Cup, The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, The Giraglia Rolex Cup, The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, Les Voiles de Saint Tropez and the two boat shows include the Cannes Boat Show, and the Monaco Yacht Show.

Les Voiles de St. Barth: Super Maxi Sailing Yachts Leopard 3 vs Rambler 100

Registrations are going well for the second edition of Les Voiles de St. Barth (4 – 9 April 2011), with 40 boats having signed up in the five categories competing (Super Maxi, Classic, Racing, Racing-Cruising, and Racing-Multihull). As well, the impending top-level battle between the two Super Maxis Leopard 3 and Rambler 100 is sure to turn some heads and bring an extremely high standard of racing to this major Caribbean yachting event.

BVI Spring Regatta: 40th Anniversary

The BVI Spring Regatta is celebrating several important milestones at this year’s event (March 28 – April 3, 2011), including the regatta’s 40th anniversary and many wonderful years of support from its oldest sponsors, Mount Gay Rum, Heineken and their distributor Road Town Wholesale (RTW), a Tortola-based food and spirit distributor.

The Neptune Regatta: A Race to the Equator

The inaugural Neptune Regatta is the World’s only sailing regatta and motor yacht rally, that centers around a race to the equator and back. Using various social networks and creating a web site quickly raised a lot of interest in the Singapore boating community, which sees 9 sailing yachts in two classes and 4 power boats of various sizes entering the inaugural event.

Oceanbridge Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta 2011

A full fleet of sailing craft from the graceful Jessie Logan, built in 1878, to the grunty Ports of Auckland tugboats and nippy P class yachts skippered by the next generation of racing sailors will bring the Waitemata Harbour alive in a maritime spectacle to celebrate the Oceanbridge Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta, on Monday, 31 January 2011.

With just over five months until Antigua Sailing Week, entries are coming in thick and fast, from all over the world. Compared to this time last year, there are over twice the number of entries received for the most prestigious and longest running regatta in the Caribbean calendar.

22nd Bodrum Cup International Wooden Yacht Regatta

Bodrum Cup International Wooden Yacht Regatta, one of the biggest naval organizations of Turkey, sponsored by Ant Yapi and MM Proje had 51 yachts, including 10 bearing foreign flags attending the regatta.

RHKYC China Coast Regatta 2010

The 2010 China Coast Regatta, running from 15-17 October 2010, organised by Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club have confirmed 45 boats in eight Divisions. Yachts range in size from the 75’ Reichel Pugh, Jelik III to a brand new fleet of J/80’s who will contest China Coast Regatta in the waters to the south east of Hong Kong Island.

Sevenstar round Britain and Ireland race: Record breaking Victory for Groupama 70

At 1126 hours BST on Sunday, the sailing yacht Groupama 70 took victory in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland off the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. By sailing the 1,802 miles in 5 days 21 hours and 26 minutes at an average speed of 12.74 knots, the French crew broke the previous record. Sailing yacht Telefonica Azul took 2nd place.

Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race: Groupama sail yacht leads

Franck Cammas’ Volvo Open 70, Groupama, was the first yacht to round Muckle Flugga at 1400 BST. They are now heading southwest at a speed of over 17 knots with their 19-mile lead rapidly increasing over their rivals Telefonica Azul, who are still beating up to Muckle Flugga.
