The top line-up of sailors from ORACLE TEAM USA as well as Artemis Racing has recently welcomed the youth sailors, competing in the first selection series of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, at a special media function.
Led by Sports Directors Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup Selection Series teams went through the first fitness testing and were instructed on how to sail an AC45 yacht and how to avoid capsizing.
This year’s calendar of ‘Summer of Racing’ in San Francisco will culminate with the America’s Cup Finals that will run from September 7 to 21. San Francisco Bay represents the most difficult race course in the competition’s renowned history.
To take place in San Francisco from February 9 to 24, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup trials will include 11 national teams. The Selection Series will be held on the same AC45 wing sail catamaran yachts the youth crews will compete in September.
A total number of 12 top youth sailing teams will compete in the February Selection Series for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup that will run in San Francisco from September 1 to 4.
One of the premier yacht clubs in the world, the prominent Royal Southern Yacht Club has recently apppointed David Mead as its new Commodore. A second generation Club member, Andrew Sinclair, has been also honoured with America’s Cup GBR Youth Challenge selection.
Today, November 29, saw the ORACLE TEAM USA announce two teams that will train for Red Bull Youth America’s Cup. The event will run in San Francisco Bay from September 1 to 4, 2013.
Scheduled for September 1-4, 2013, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup will open with a Selection Series Trials in San Francisco in February. At the moment, more than 20 teams from 17 countries are eligible for the Series.
Held in San Francisco in August/September 2013, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup gives a clear path to the America’s Cup to young sailors, aged 19 to 23.
