Perini Navi Sailing yacht Andromeda La Dea arrived at the Pendennis Shipyard for her winter refit at the beginning of November and is undergoing work for her 20 year ABS survey. The 47m Superyacht Andromeda La Dea was the first Perini Navi to circumnavigate the globe, and has visited both the Antarctic and the Arctic.

Less then one week, and the 2nd Pendennis Cup will take off on the 9th August 2010 and will run right through to 14th August. The visitors will have to possibility to see the largest yacht attending, the Pendennis sailing yacht Adela, measuring 55 metres in length over all.
To celebrate a successful refurbishment and as a thank you to Pendennis Charlie Rowe, Mariette’s captain, invited members of the refit team to be guests on board the vessel during her 2 day sea trial. “Mariette is back in the water and ready to sail again. As part of its on-going development of the highest quality training facilities, Pendennis has appointed Helios Maritime Aviation to carry out Bridge Resource Management (BRM) courses for superyacht crews.
Working closely with Pendennis, Helios has created the first BRM course designed specifically for superyacht crews. The two day courses are designed to take the entire superyacht crew through all aspects of safety, teamwork and joint and individual effectiveness. The courses include a variety of practical and theoretical activities, and use pertinent and recent case studies to pragmatically demonstrate and enhance the safe operation of a superyacht.
Ron Holland’s career began after he designed the ¼ tonner Eygthene, which won its first race the 1973 ¼ ton Cup. This success led to a commission to design a One-ton class yacht for Irish businessman Hugh Coveney, enabling Ron set up as an independent designer in Kinsale, Co. Cork, where he has been based ever since.
On Tuesday night the large marquee on Events Square in the centre of Falmouth throw’s open its doors and gives Pendennis Cup participants their first chance of the week to rub shoulders with other competitors in the other fleets taking part in the wider regatta.
