Preparations are well underway for the 2011 Superyacht Cup regatta from 22-25 June in Palma. So far, 16 yachts have registered for the event including five brand new entries that have never competed in the event before. Space at the Muelle Viejo only allows for a maximum of 20-22 entries.
Yet another fantastic Superyacht Cup 2010 with the full moon shining on the huge group of race fans wildly dancing and singing to the tunes of the Red Sox perfectly rounded off another weekend to remember in Palma de Mallorca, where hospitality is warm, the sailing is hot, and the fun is unlimited. See you next time in Antigua!
The Superyacht Cup Palma delivered in bucket loads and the bar chat tonight will be of good sailing and relaxed racing, after all this is not a dangerous race where people feel scared or sail on the edge of technology, but a regatta where families, friends and crew all play together and enjoy what yachts are all about.
Day 1 of The Superyacht Cup Palma 2010 dawned clear, bright and ominously still. Nevertheless, the diverse fleet, which features this year many yachts familiar to superyacht racing fans, representing yacht builders worldwide, including Holland Yachtbouw Shamoun, Fitzroy’s Salperton IV, Royal Huisman Gliss, Wally Saudade, and of course, the unmistakable Maltese Falcon, built by Perini Navi, joined by her baby sister, P2, left the port before mid-day, hoping for the usual daily afternoon breeze to kick in. Yet in the end, the Wind Gods did not disappoint, so with only a short delay, the racing kicked off at 13:30, as Drumfire led the fleet with a clean start.
With only one week to go until the Palma regatta, yachts are arriving and making preparations for owners and guests. The entry list currently stands at 24 yachts and includes some of the most spectacular superyachts in the world. The Superyacht Cup dock on Muelle Viejo will be full, accommodating 18 of the yachts with six others moored in adjacent marinas close to the action in the race village.

Background on Club Yachting Life: Herbert Dahm founded the club in 1987 with the idea of promoting contact among owners and yachting enthusiasts in order to encourage the exchange of ideas and to enrich community life in sailing sports. A first regatta of the Club Yachting Life, in June 1988 from Palma to Cabrera, was followed by competitions out of, among others, Monte Carlo, Porto Cervo, Corsica, Menorca and St. Tropez, always accompanied by a well-developed social programme.
