Oceana launches expedition to assess long-term effects of Gulf of Mexico disaster

The Oceana Ocean environmental organisation has set off on expedition yacht LATITUDE to study the oceanographic effects of the Gulf of Mexico oil Spill

Oceana ocean expeditions have resulted in multiple campaign victories and since 2005, the Oceana Ranger catamaran has crossed the Pacific, Caribbean, Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Bay of Biscay. In 2008 MarViva Med joined Ranger in the Mediterranean, and teams from Chile visited the pristine waters of Patagonia and the Juan Fernandez Islands. The resulting photo and video documentation of rare species, as well as documentation of illegal fishing, provides further evidence to protect vulnerable marine species and habitats.
