Superyachts raise $55,000 for Christchurch Earthquake Appeal

On the 22nd of February at 12.51pm, a shallow earthquake of 6.3 magnitude, rocked Christchurch, New Zealand, leaving the city devastated. With the need to help the many affected by the disaster apparent, the superyacht community in New Zealand rallied. On Thursday night in Auckland a fundraiser, organized by YachtAid Global and Superyacht Support Ltd saw around $55,000 raised for the cause.

New Zealand’s Marine Industry stands together after Quake

The New Zealand marine industry is deeply grateful for the generosity, sympathy and support they have received from around the world since the Christchurch earthquake of 22 February 2011. The earthquake was confined to Christchurch and Lyttelton, and many businesses there are already back up and running. America’s Cup AC72 Class Rule amended: One size wing for all conditions

America’s Cup competitors have amended the AC 72 class rule, the design rule that will govern the development of the Cup class wing-sailed catamarans for the 34th America’s Cup and the America’s Cup World Series events in 2012.

4th High Performance Yacht Design Conference in New Zealand

The dates for the 4th High Performance Yacht Design conference have been confirmed and will run from the 12-14 March 2012. This will take place in Auckland, New Zealand during the Volvo Ocean Race stopover. The boats arrive on 8 March and depart on 18 March. The conference venue will be in the heart of the Viaduct Basin in the purpose built Marine Events centre.
