NZ Marine has unveiled a streamlined clearance process for foreign flagged yachts, wishing to charter in New Zealand waters. The new process removes the need for a bond, with an owner’s written guarantee to leave New Zealand waters after 24 months, now satisfactory.
New Zealand Marine has officially launched the new ‘Destination New Zealand Superyacht Attraction Initiative’, which will see NZ Marine join forces with government bodies to promote New Zealand as a destination for superyachts.
Today, December 11, 2013, saw the NZ Customs Minister Hon. Maurice Williamson announce the extension of the temporary import entry period for international yachts from 12 to 24 months.
Fifteen members of the New Zealand Marine Export Group will be attending this week’s Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam, including Doyle Sails New Zealand, presenting their Stratis ICE sail fibre. This will be featured on such outstanding vessels as the 37m charter yacht Moonbird.
Supported by such prestigious superyacht designers as Ed Dubois and Ron Holland, the Friends of NZ Marine programme, an initiative launched by New Zealand Marine Industry Association (NZ Marine) earlier this year, represents a huge success.
The New Zealand marine industry will gather in Queenstown this March to discuss ways of boosting exports and maximising growth over the next four years.
