Aquariva Gucci received acknowledgement from the Nautical Design Awards panel of judges during a gala evening in Miami on 18th February organised by Yacht & Sail and ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale – Association for Industrial Design). The exclusive model, created as a result of the partnership between Riva, Ferretti Group brand, and Gucci, was celebrated as a highly successful project developed through the working relationship between two historical Italian brands.
After navigating through rough waters for several years, the marine industry is beginning to push forward on the throttle, according to survey results released today by GE Capital, Commercial Distribution Finance (CDF) from the Miami International Boat Show. More than one-third of respondents (38%) expect sales to increase up to five percent in 2011, and 54% said that the best time for dealers to increase inventory levels is now.

The Viking display at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show featured 14 motor yacht models from 42 to 82 feet and was one of the most visited exhibits with 4,800 registered guests, a 50 percent increase over last year’s totals. Six Vikings were sold, including two 76 Convertible motor yachts, a 70 Convertible, two 60 Convertibles, and a 66 Convertible, a brand new model announced at the show.
Twelve marine products were honored for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 70th annual Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail Miami. Eleven companies took home the prestigious boating industry 2011 Innovation Award and one the Honorable Mention during NMMA’s State of the Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast, held this morning at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Ocean Signal, the UK manufacturer of marine communication and safety products, which include EPIRBs, SARTs and VHF radios, will open its own US sales operation this month as Ocean Signal America. The new company, headed up by CEO Talbot Pratt, will be based in Newburyport, MA and will share facilities with Digital Yacht and Digital Deep Sea which manufacture a complementary range of marine electronic products including AIS, chart plotters and marine PCs, for both commercial and leisure markets.
J Craft, the Swedish luxury powerboat manufacturer will make their US debut when they display their luxurious 40ft motor cruiser, the Torpdeo at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage show between the 17th and the 21st February, 2011.
